Africa Climate week postponed
UN Africa Climate Week, which was to take place in Kampala from 20th to 24th April 2020, has been postponed for the second time. This time, the announced is based on the status of the coronavirus. The United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) has taken the precautionary measure because some of the participants come from affected regions.
It is clearly stated that the summit is put on hold and not canceled. It will take place at a later date that will be communicated. Initially, the meeting has been scheduled for the second week in March 2020.
The message in part read, “The UN Climate Change secretariat, in close collaboration with all the other organizing partners, has decided to put Africa Climate Week in Kampala on hold. This is to ensure the health and safety of all participants in light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The meeting, which was planned to take place 20 to 24 April 2020, is only postponed and not canceled, and will take place at a later time that has yet to be determined.” By UFCCC as listed on the website UNFCCC’s Official Announcement
