Brian Gisore Nyabuti, 23, won the challenge. He leads a group of young men and women in Kibera slums, managing solid waste.
Slum Going Green and Clean is a community-based organization led by Gosore Brian with 40 registered members, some of whom are inactive. The organization has been in existence since 2017.
The group collects wastes from 648 households; an activity carried out two times a week. The standard cost per household in KSH 20; however, Gisore tells us they exempt some households that are very weak financially.
The team also turns plastic waste into artwork, jumping ropes, and indoor decors, among others.
Fundamentally, the group constructed their office using concrete and glass bottles, a clear demonstration of their dedication to reusing, recycling, and upscaling what is otherwise considered as waste.
